Prior to founding Bright Idea Consulting, Jaime spent the last decade in policy advocacy, journalism, communications, and the international travel industry.
As a journalist and communications director, Jaime’s work has appeared in hundreds of publications, including the New York Times, Reuters, the Washington Post, and Americas Quarterly.
Winning Mark
As Project Manager at Portland-based media firm Winning Mark, Jaime managed more than $500,000 in digital campaigns, shepherding dozens of clients, five internal teams, and a suite of vendors through producing hundreds of static and video ads, delivering hundreds of thousands of impressions, and winning more than 80% of electoral races.
Engage Cuba
As Director of Communications and Strategic Initiatives at Engage Cuba, a DC-based coalition of private companies and organizations working to end the embargo on Cuba, Jaime represented Engage Cuba before the State Department, foreign diplomats, Members of Congress, press, and stakeholders.
She also organized several high-level business delegations to Cuba, including securing visas and designing in-country programming.
At Engage Cuba, Jaime led a social media campaign to successfully lobby every 2020 Democratic Presidential Candidate to publicly support ending the embargo on Cuba.
She also coordinated the creation and launch of the Engage Cuba New Jersey State Council, a politically sensitive undertaking involving state legislators and local business leaders.
Managing Engage Cuba’s social media presence, Jaime earned engagement from key targets such as Former Secretaries of State John Kerry and Hillary Clinton, as well as many bipartisan Members of Congress.
Copywriter
As a copywriter, Jaime penned dozens of customized SEO blog posts for travel company Insight Cuba, driving more than 30% of organic website traffic.
Jaime has also written copy for websites, digital ads, social media posts, newsletters, and fundraising appeals in many of her staff positions over the years.

As a travel program coordinator and tour guide for Insight Cuba, Jaime designed, guided, and coordinated sanctions-compliant trips to Cuba for thousands of travelers.
Center for Democracy in the Americas
As a policy and communications fellow at the D.C. nonprofit Center for Democracy in the Americas, Jaime conducted policy research, met with Congressional offices, wrote blog and social media content, and co-authored the organization’s main publication, a weekly newsletter for more than 7,000 high value subscribers. She also assisted with organizing fundraising campaigns, events, and delegations to Cuba.
